Service Description
Emotional Intelligence for Municipal Leaders Stronger leadership starts with emotional intelligence. Learn to stay steady, read the room, and lead with maturity. Emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills a municipal leader can develop—especially in small communities where people know you personally, tensions can rise quickly, and every reaction is noticed. This session focuses on helping leaders understand themselves first, so they can lead others with steadiness and maturity. You’ll explore how self awareness shapes your decisions, how to recognize your stress responses before they take over, and how to stay grounded when conversations get heated. We’ll look at practical ways to “read the room,” adjust your tone, and communicate in a way that calms situations instead of escalating them. You’ll also learn how emotionally intelligent leadership builds trust, reduces conflict, and sets the tone for staff, council, and the community. The goal is to help leaders show up as the steady, grounded adults in the room—able to handle pressure, navigate tough personalities, and lead with clarity and decency even on the hardest days. This webinar is part of the Practical Leadership Skills for Municipal Leaders & CAOs Webinar Series.
