
Accessible Saskatchewan Act
Who is Required to have an Accessibility Plan:
Under the Accessible Saskatchewan Act, the following categories of employers are legally required to develop and publicly post an accessibility plan by December 3, 2025.

Public Sector Bodies:

Municipalities

School Divisions
-
Post-Secondary Institutions

Health Authorities
-
Crown Corporations
-
Other prescribed public bodies

Plan Content
-
Identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility
-
Be developed in consultation with persons with disabilities

Consider the following principles: inclusion, adaptability, diversity, collaboration, self-determination, universal design

Public Posting & Feedback
-
Plans must be available to the public (eg. on a website or in accessible formats)
-
Organizations must establish a process for receiving public feedback on the plans

Review Cycle

Plans are to be reviewed and updated at least once every three years
Joint Accessibility Plan
-
Two or more public sector bodies may develop a joint accessibility plan with the Minister's consent
Compliance & Enforcement
-
The Saskatchewan Accessibility Office oversees compliance
-
If a plan is found deficient, the Director may issue a notice and require corrections within a specified time
-
Failure to comply may result in administrative penalities
