CED in Small Populations
LIVE WEBINAR

Service Description
Straightforward CED principles adapted for the challenges of working in a small population. Community Economic Development (CED) is often described in broad, idealistic terms, but in small population communities, it looks very different. This session breaks CED down into practical, understandable pieces and explains how the core principles apply when you are working in a place where everyone thinks they know what your job is, where resources are limited, and one person is expected to carry most of the workload. We look at what CED really means—community-led, relationship-driven, and focused on long-term resilience—and then translate those principles into the day to day reality of small population communities. Participants learn why traditional economic development models don’t always fit, what makes CED more effective in rural settings, and how to use CED principles to guide decisions, set priorities, and build trust with Council, businesses and residents. This session gives EDOs a clear understanding of the work they are actually doing, why it matters, and how to explain it in a way that builds support. It is a practical, honest introduction to CED that supports EDOs to lead with clarity instead of reacting to pressure or expectations that are unrealistic. This webinar is part of the Community Economic Development Bundle. Contact Anna at Anna@smallplacesrock.com to register for the Community Economic Development Bundle of 10 webinars.
